Are you ready for the holidays, or looking for some ideas? And here are some of the some of the pieces that were new to our family, or that the kids were particularly drawn to this year
Kid-At-Heart: Gift Ideas
It’s easy to fall into the trap of good socks, a new travel mug or a book (actually, I love getting books) but adults love toys too! A beautiful desk toy is a delightful gift (but may not even make it to the office if the kids get a chance first). Here are a few Adult favorites + a few slightly more sensible things. Because Grimms and Grapat are Geofenced, these items are not directly linked on this page, but instead have buttons below.
Grapat Nesting Rings are beautifully made, delightful to handle and endless stacking fun. Don’t be deceived by their simple appearance!
Bauspiel Gemblocks combine beautifully with the xblocks, but they are amazing as a stand-alone meditation and focusing tool. They’re simply beautiful to look at even put away in the tray.
The Grimms Leonardo stick s are a lot of fun independently to build the classic Leonardo bridge or a tower that collapses most satisfyingly at the touch of a finger, or to make a marble run more complex
We’ve slowly built up a bright stash of Duns table cloths–they keep the dining room cheery, and they wash quick and easy. They also make great roofs for forts and are great for picnics.
We got our subpod worm bin this year, and absolutely LOVE what quick work the worms are making of our kitchen scraps. You can get the bin alone to insert in your garden, with a raised bed. Rainbow10 will get you a 10% discount
Better than a pair of warm socks, I love that these slippers have a soft sole so they’re comfortable to keep on as you sit cross-legged on the floor to play
The Duns Sweden terry pants and tees make the absolute best lounge clothes! Soft, cozy, and so so comfy.
The vases from Earth2Art Studio on Etsy are beautifully made. Because they are heavy (solid stone) you can use them for very top-heavy bouquets
This sponge holder from Uncommon Goods is a fixture in our kitchen! A functional way to bring a bit of the outside in.

At first glance, the Bauspiel Giant Rainbow looks familiar and perhaps similar to other sets, but on closer inspection, the size and proportions reveal that really it plays more like a remarkable set of blocks than the typical rainbow stacker.
Each year as earth day rolls around the kids and I talk about changes we can make to live more responsibly. Sometimes it means using less of things, sometimes using different things, sometimes it means looking for ways to use things longer, and other times it means making new choices next time you shop. Here are a few of our favorites.
